About The Position

This remote consulting opportunity is for experienced US-based inpatient medical coders who will contribute professional expertise to advanced AI training and evaluation initiatives. The work combines facility coding, clinical data interpretation, coding guideline application, documentation review, and structured quality assessment to improve the accuracy and reliability of AI systems used in inpatient coding workflows. The role involves reviewing complex inpatient medical records, assessing diagnosis and procedure coding, evaluating principal and secondary diagnoses, and analyzing MS-DRG assignments, including MCC/CC classifications and Present on Admission indicators. It also includes reviewing documentation for accuracy and completeness, identifying discrepancies or potential provider queries, and validating AI-generated notes, summaries, diagnoses, and coding recommendations against documentation and applicable guidelines. The engagement is freelance/contract, fully remote in the United States, and pays $50–$70 per hour. Contributors must be available for at least 10 hours per week. Work is performed through designated project tools and may involve electronic medical record and coding encoder systems. Work must not use confidential or proprietary information belonging to an employer, client, institution, or other third party. The opportunity is available through 24-MAG LLC.
