About The Position

This remote freelance/contract consulting role is for experienced US-based Certified Inpatient Coders who will contribute inpatient coding expertise to AI training and evaluation initiatives. The work involves reviewing complex inpatient medical records, validating diagnosis and procedure coding, assessing clinical documentation, validating MS-DRG assignments, and evaluating AI-generated medical information against established coding standards. Assignments combine inpatient coding practice, clinical data interpretation, regulatory guideline application, structured quality assessment, and detailed technical feedback to improve the accuracy and reliability of AI systems used in healthcare coding and clinical documentation workflows. The role includes applying ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS guidelines; identifying principal and secondary diagnoses, sequencing, and POA indicators; assessing CC/MCC effects and DRG classification; and reviewing records for HACs, patient safety indicators, documentation gaps, and coding discrepancies. Coders will also review AI-generated clinical notes, summaries, diagnostic information, procedure documentation, and coding recommendations, providing written explanations of errors and complex classification decisions. This engagement is fully remote within the United States, pays $50–$70 per hour, and requires availability of at least 10 hours per week. Work is completed independently through designated project tools, without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to an employer, client, institution, or other third party. There are 50 available openings. The opportunity is offered through 24-MAG LLC, which connects professionals with remote consulting opportunities.
