About The Position

The Ink Technician is responsible for mixing inks according to color formulas in sufficient quantities to ensure continuous press area production. This role involves various tasks related to ink management, color matching, inventory control, and supporting other technicians.

Requirements

• Able to pass color perception test
• Advanced knowledge and understanding of the Novaflow system
• Understands color metric numbers CMC/LAB/DE/CH
• Understands color theory and toning principles
• Color matching, color formulation, solvent use
• Capable of, and commit to follow the plant and departmental safety procedures, food safety guidelines and ISO procedure
• Good communication and organizational skills
• Good mathematical skills
• Continuous learning will be expected
• Able to work overtime as required

Responsibilities

• Perform all duties of Ink Dispenser
• Forecast ink requirements from press schedule
• Issue inks using the ink inventory system
• Perform press side color matching
• Use of proofer/drawdown equipment
• Proofer validation of metering rods, daily recording results on log
• Properly trained/understanding Teckon spectrophotometer equipment
• Tracking and management of inventory using Novaflow system
• Utilize 60-day ink demand report for rework opportunities
• Make rework user drums using PMS Pantone book
• QC ink for dockets/refills based on availability in stock
• Stage finished pails in proper location for presses
• Color match at press side as needed
• Provide backup support for Master Ink Technician as needed
• Maintain housekeeping
• Must be able to perform all duties of Returns/MH and Dispenser Tech
• Learn role of Master Ink Technician for future advancement
• Complete Hazardous Waste Training
