About The Position

Responsible for supplying the pressroom with all applied materials required for the manufacture of our product line. This role involves following established color matching and color control procedures, performing recording functions, labeling batches, and assisting the shift supervisor. The Ink Technician will blend or prepare applied materials such as solvents, lacquers, and adhesives for each press run, maintain material supply during runs, and receive materials while rotating stock, which includes forklift operations. Adherence to all department and plant safety procedures and active participation in safety programs are essential. The job requires a high level of self-motivation and advanced prioritization skills. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.
  • Manual lifting not to exceed 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Follow established color matching and color control procedures for the department.
  • Perform all necessary recording functions, labeling of each batch/drum, inventory ticket, batch ticket.
  • Assist the shift supervisor as required.
  • Blend or prepare, as required, all other applied materials for each press run, solvent, lacquers, adhesives.
  • Maintain supply of materials throughout the press runs.
  • Receiving of materials and rotating stock (includes forklift operations).
  • Follow all department and plant safety procedures and be an active participant in our safety programs.
