About The Position

The purpose of this position is to oversee unloading activities, operate the locomotives, and maintain all of the associated equipment at the feedmill. This role involves performing millwright tasks and projects, as well as heavy maintenance projects. The individual ensures all schedules are met to eliminate the risk of demurrage penalties, takes bin measurements daily or as needed, pulls and tests samples, and performs regular housekeeping tasks to minimize dust accumulation throughout the shift. The position also requires participation as a member of the team, fostering strong cohesiveness, and supporting the implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies. The employee must be familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies) and understand their role in supporting these systems, including communicating concerns and improvement ideas. Other duties may be necessary in support of business objectives.

Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to work in temperature extremes, wet and noisy environments.
Must be able to work on feet for the entire shift.
Must be able to climb ladders and bend as needed.
Will use appropriate footwear, hearing protection and other protective equipment as needed or required.
Must be able to read, write, and understand English.

Nice To Haves

Preference for poultry or food processing organization.
Experience in trucking or transportation relevant to poultry organization for 6 months to one year.
High School Diploma or GED.
Computer training.

Responsibilities

Performs millwright tasks and projects, as well as heavy maintenance projects.
Ensures all schedules are met to eliminate risk of demurrage penalties.
Take bin measurements daily or as needed.
Pull samples and test them.
Sweeps and cleans the work area as needed.
Performs regular housekeeping tasks to minimize dust accumulation as needed throughout the shift.
Participates as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues.
Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues.
Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies).
Understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems.
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
