About The Position

WSP is currently looking for a geotechnical / geophysical intern to join its Geotechnical and Materials team within the Earth and Environmental Sciences division. As part of this internship, you will participate in various activities carried out both in the office and in the field. You will contribute to geotechnical and geophysical investigation mandates under the supervision of experienced professionals and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on various projects.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in the 2nd or 3rd year of a Bachelor's degree in Geological Engineering or Civil Engineering.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A marked interest in field work.
  • Ability to work both in the office and on construction sites.
  • Good teamwork skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Valid Construction ASP card.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Completed one or more relevant internships.
  • Knowledge of Geotec and AutoCAD software.
  • Demonstrate initiative, autonomy, and great attention to detail.
  • Bilingual (French and English).

Responsibilities

  • Participate in field work which may include drilling, exploration trenches and geophysical surveys.
  • Take groundwater level readings.
  • Perform surveying of sounding points.
  • Conduct in-situ geotechnical tests on soil and rock (permeameter, pocket penetrometer, pressuremeter, dilatometer, etc.).
  • Perform preliminary interpretation of data collected in the field.
  • Manage, identify, and track soil and rock samples.
  • Apply health and safety procedures during all field activities.
  • Participate in the preparation of geotechnical and geophysical service proposals.
  • Assist the team in planning, coordinating, and executing investigation campaigns.
  • Contribute to the compilation, analysis, and interpretation of collected data.
  • Participate in the writing of technical reports.
  • Collaborate in the management of activities and project monitoring.
  • Support teams in various technical and administrative tasks related to ongoing mandates.
  • Actively participate in WSP's health, safety, and risk prevention culture.
