About The Position

ArcelorMittal Mines et Infrastructure Canada is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer. This role will act as a technical leader in their discipline within projects, translating business needs and operational requirements into robust and high-performing electrical solutions. They will ensure the quality, compliance, and performance of electrical systems throughout all engineering phases and support teams in technical decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Instrumentation & Control) or related field and member of the OIQ.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in engineering, ideally in the execution of complex industrial projects.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary coordination, management of consulting engineering firms, and execution of engineering projects.
  • Good understanding of industrial equipment, systems, and processes.
  • Ability to manage complex technical interfaces, influence stakeholders, and make informed technical decisions.
  • Proficiency in the different project development phases: concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and detailed engineering.
  • Excellent ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects in an environment with evolving priorities.
  • Recognized technical leadership, strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the electrical technical leader within the engineering team, ensuring solutions are consistent with overall objectives.
  • Translate project needs into clear and structured electrical technical requirements for internal teams and external firms.
  • Collaborate closely with the engineering department head to prioritize electrical activities, plan workload, and ensure alignment with other disciplines.
  • In collaboration with the electrical expert in the engineering team, review and validate mechanical technical deliverables for the different engineering phases (PFS, FS, and DE) as well as technical calculations, plans, and specifications.
  • Ensure the quality, compliance, and standardization of mechanical solutions by adhering to norms, standards, and best practices, and ensuring consistency with operational requirements.
  • Actively participate in solving complex technical problems in collaboration with experts.
  • Support the project approval process: contribute to approval processes (AFE), justify technical choices, participate in technical reviews.
  • Identify and manage mechanical technical risks by analyzing impact and proposing mitigation measures.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the engineering team (standardization of practices, optimization of technical solutions, and sharing of lessons learned).
