About The Position

As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer on JPMorgan Chase’s Enterprise Technology Infrastructure Platforms Monitoring team, you will help build and operate a strategic infrastructure monitoring platform that improves critical-service resilience and provides trusted operational insights. You will be a hands-on technical contributor on an agile team, delivering secure, stable, and scalable observability solutions, modernizing event-to-incident workflows, and enabling automation and AIOps-driven reliability improvements aligned with business objectives. The role covers monitoring capabilities across Linux, Windows, and complex network environments, including platform onboarding and lifecycle management. You will design telemetry collection and integrations, establish standardized onboarding patterns, improve monitoring signal quality, and automate platform operations. You will also help maintain production health through triage, root-cause analysis, and preventative engineering, while partnering with infrastructure, application, and SRE teams on service objectives and operational readiness. The position uses enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to support infrastructure analysis, documentation, delivery, and automation. AI-assisted outputs and recommendations must be validated, and operational data handled according to sensitivity and security requirements. Changes and remediation must meet resiliency, security, and auditability expectations.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in infrastructure engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
  • Proficiency with Linux and/or Windows administration, troubleshooting, performance analysis, and operational best practices in regulated production environments.
  • Hands-on experience delivering and operating enterprise-scale infrastructure monitoring solutions across Linux and Windows estates.
  • Understanding and hands-on implementation of observability and telemetry concepts, including metrics, logs, and events; experience with OpenTelemetry collection patterns and integrating telemetry into downstream components.
  • Proficiency in scripting and development with Python, Ansible, PowerShell, and/or Bash, and in applying CI/CD workflows for controlled, secure, repeatable change management.
  • Experience developing, reviewing, debugging, and maintaining secure, high-quality production code and platform configurations, including automation for monitoring platforms and operations.
  • Broad infrastructure experience across hardware platforms, operating systems, networking, storage, and databases, including MS SQL Server, Oracle, and Cassandra; familiarity with deployment and integration patterns, scaling, resiliency, and performance assessment.
  • Experience implementing infrastructure-as-code and configuration-management practices with tools such as Terraform.
  • Hands-on experience operating in hybrid infrastructure environments, including enterprise on-premises platforms and public or private cloud, with familiarity supporting and migrating monitoring capabilities across cloud boundaries.
  • Experience improving monitoring signal quality through baselining, threshold strategies, noise reduction, enrichment, and topology/context alignment to support reliable event-to-incident workflows and operational insights.
  • Experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities for infrastructure engineering workflows, with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
  • Ability to review and validate AI-assisted recommendations before implementation, escalate when uncertain, and ensure outcomes meet resiliency, security, and auditability expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience operating one or more enterprise monitoring platforms such as SCOM, Tivoli, SMARTS, IBM Instana, DX NetOps, ITNM, or Netcool Suite.
  • Experience with modern observability ecosystems such as Dynatrace, Grafana, and Prometheus, and interoperability patterns for telemetry integration, routing, and visualization.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, such as EKS, for container orchestration and operations.
  • Experience with topology-driven monitoring and correlation approaches for large-scale infrastructure environments.
  • Knowledge of event management and AIOps workflows, including noise reduction, anomaly detection, probable-cause analysis, and guided remediation, with appropriate controls.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer, operate, and continuously improve infrastructure monitoring platforms, ensuring availability, performance, scalability, and security.
  • Build and operate enterprise-grade monitoring capabilities across Linux, Windows, and complex network estates, including platform onboarding and lifecycle management.
  • Use enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to support infrastructure analysis and design documentation, validating outputs and handling operational data according to sensitivity and security requirements.
  • Design and implement platform services, integrations, and telemetry collection for metrics, logs, and events, including OpenTelemetry collection patterns where applicable.
  • Develop and maintain standardized onboarding patterns for agents and collectors, configurations, dashboards, and alert policies.
  • Improve monitoring signal quality and usability through baselining, threshold strategies, noise reduction, enrichment, and topology/context alignment.
  • Develop secure, high-quality automation and production code; review, debug, and improve code and configurations written by others.
  • Automate platform operations and reduce toil through scripting and CI/CD-driven configuration management, and implement infrastructure-as-code deployment patterns.
  • Manage and maintain production health for the monitoring platform, lead triage, perform root-cause analysis, and deliver preventative engineering and resilience improvements.
  • Partner with infrastructure, application, and SRE teams to align platform capabilities with SLIs/SLOs, operational readiness, and continuous improvement goals.
  • Apply reuse-first, AI-assisted practices to identify recurring issues and validate remediation options, ensuring changes are traceable, auditable, and aligned with resiliency and security expectations.
