About The Position

As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Enterprise Technology Infrastructure Platforms Monitoring team, you will help build and operate a strategic Infrastructure Monitoring platform that supports critical service resilience and trusted operational insights. You will be a hands-on technical contributor on an agile team, delivering secure, stable, and scalable observability solutions. The work includes turning telemetry into actionable insights, modernizing event-to-incident workflows, and enabling automation and AIOps-driven reliability improvements aligned with business objectives. The role engineers and operates enterprise monitoring capabilities across Linux, Windows, and complex network environments, along with telemetry collection, platform integrations, standardized onboarding, and lifecycle management. It also focuses on improving monitoring signal quality, automating platform operations, maintaining production health, and partnering with infrastructure, application, and SRE teams. Enterprise-authorized AI may be used to support analysis, documentation, and delivery workflows, with validation and appropriate attention to data sensitivity, security, auditability, and resilience. JPMorganChase offers a competitive total rewards package, with compensation based on role, experience, skill set, and location. Eligible roles may receive commission-based pay and/or discretionary incentive compensation in cash and/or forfeitable equity. Benefits and programs are eligibility-based. The company describes itself as an equal opportunity employer and provides reasonable accommodations for applicants and employees.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in infrastructure engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
  • Proficiency with enterprise operating systems (Linux and/or Windows), including administration, troubleshooting, performance analysis, and operational best practices in regulated production environments.
  • Hands-on experience delivering and operating enterprise-scale Infrastructure Monitoring solutions across Linux and Windows estates.
  • Understanding and hands-on implementation of observability and telemetry concepts, including metrics, logs, and events; experience with OpenTelemetry collection patterns and integrating telemetry into downstream components.
  • Proficiency in automation and engineering practices, including scripting and development with Python, Ansible, PowerShell, and/or Bash, and applying CI/CD workflows for controlled, secure, repeatable change management.
  • Experience developing, reviewing, debugging, and maintaining secure, high-quality production code and platform configurations, including automation supporting monitoring platforms and operations.
  • Well-rounded infrastructure experience across hardware platforms, operating systems, networking, storage, and databases such as MS SQL Server, Oracle, and Cassandra, including deployment patterns, integration architectures, scaling, resiliency, and performance assessment.
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration management practices using tools such as Terraform.
  • Hands-on experience operating in hybrid infrastructure environments, including enterprise on-premises platforms and public or private cloud, with familiarity supporting and migrating monitoring capabilities across cloud boundaries.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve monitoring signal quality through baselining, threshold strategy, noise reduction, enrichment, and topology/context alignment, supporting reliable event-to-incident workflows and operational insights.
  • Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities for infrastructure engineering workflows, with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
  • Ability to review and validate AI-assisted recommendations before implementation, escalate when uncertain, and ensure outcomes align with resiliency, security, and auditability expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience operating one or more enterprise monitoring platforms such as SCOM, Tivoli, SMARTS, IBM Instana, DX NetOps, ITNM, or Netcool Suite.
  • Experience with modern observability ecosystems such as Dynatrace, Grafana, and Prometheus, including telemetry integration, routing, and visualization patterns.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, such as EKS, for container orchestration and operations.
  • Experience with topology-driven monitoring and correlation approaches for large-scale infrastructure environments.
  • Knowledge of Event Management and AIOps workflows, including noise reduction, anomaly detection, probable cause analysis, and guided remediation with appropriate controls.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer, operate, and continuously improve Infrastructure Monitoring platforms, ensuring availability, performance, scalability, and security.
  • Build and operate enterprise-grade Infrastructure Monitoring capabilities across Linux, Windows, and complex network estates, including platform-level onboarding and lifecycle management.
  • Use enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to accelerate infrastructure analysis and design documentation, validating outputs and handling operational data according to sensitivity and security requirements.
  • Design and implement platform services, integrations, and telemetry collection for metrics, logs, and events, including OpenTelemetry collection patterns where applicable.
  • Develop and maintain standardized onboarding patterns for agents and collectors, configurations, dashboards, and alert policies.
  • Improve monitoring signal quality and usability through baselining, threshold strategy, noise reduction, enrichment, and topology/context alignment.
  • Develop secure, high-quality automation and production code; review, debug, and improve code and configuration written by others.
  • Automate platform operations and reduce toil through scripting and CI/CD-driven configuration management, and implement infrastructure-as-code deployment patterns.
  • Manage production health for the monitoring platform, lead triage, perform root-cause analysis, and deliver preventative engineering and resilience improvements.
  • Partner with infrastructure, application, and SRE teams to align platform capabilities with SLIs/SLOs, operational readiness, and continuous improvement goals.
  • Apply reuse-first, AI-assisted practices in delivery and automation to identify recurring issues and validate remediation options, ensuring changes are traceable, auditable, and aligned with resiliency and security expectations.
