About The Position

Kaukauna Utilities is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to design, strengthen, and modernize the technology infrastructure supporting electric and water utility operations. The position helps ensure IT and operational technology (OT) systems remain reliable, secure, and resilient.

The engineer designs, implements, and improves enterprise networks, servers, virtualization, storage, identity and access management, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, and other enterprise platforms and cloud services. The role also develops backup, recovery, redundancy, and disaster-recovery capabilities; leads or supports infrastructure upgrades and migrations; evaluates technologies; and contributes to long-term lifecycle planning.

The position collaborates with IT, OT, Cybersecurity, Operations, and external partners to troubleshoot complex issues and implement effective solutions. Candidates who accept an offer must successfully complete a background check and drug screen as a condition of employment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or associate degree in information technology, cybersecurity, networking, computer science, engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in IT infrastructure, networking, systems administration, infrastructure engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex infrastructure solutions.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise networking, servers, virtualization, identity and access management, backup and recovery, and Microsoft cloud technologies.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, solve complex technical problems, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
• Valid Wisconsin driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Design and improve enterprise networks, servers, virtualization, storage, and related infrastructure to support reliability, performance, and security.
• Design and maintain secure, reliable infrastructure through network segmentation, system configurations, and infrastructure improvements that support operational continuity.
• Support identity and access management, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, and other enterprise platforms and cloud services.
• Develop and improve backup, recovery, redundancy, and disaster-recovery capabilities to maintain critical services.
• Lead and support infrastructure upgrades, migrations, technology evaluations, and long-term lifecycle planning.
• Work with IT, OT, Cybersecurity, Operations, and external partners to troubleshoot complex issues and implement effective solutions.
