About the position
Headway is building a mental healthcare system that is accessible to everyone. They have built the first software-enabled network of therapists who accept health insurance, making it easy for therapists to grow their practices and possible for patients to find quality care they can afford. The infrastructure engineering team at Headway is responsible for building their AWS infrastructure, automated deploy processes, and developer experience that helps them deliver a best-in-class experience for their patients and therapists. They are looking for infrastructure engineers with a background in DevOps, Site Reliability, Platform and/or Software Engineering who have the ability to deal with ambiguity and learn new technologies and systems. The ideal candidate will have experience with cloud infrastructure, high-level programming languages, and infrastructure-as-code.
Responsibilities
- Building and maintaining AWS infrastructure, automated deploy processes, and developer experience
- Ensuring performance and scalability of the system
- Working with high-level programming languages and infrastructure-as-code
- Communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Collaborating well with teams and functions
- Contributing to engineering culture, processes, and documentation
- Improving tooling to make engineering more streamlined and efficient
- Establishing and engraining best practices throughout codebases
- Working in a fast-paced, iterative development process

Requirements
- 5+ years experience as a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), DevOps, Infrastructure or Software Engineer with a focus on performance and scalability
- Have cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
- Have a working knowledge of one or more high-level programming languages (Javascript, Python, etc.)
- Have a working knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi, AWS CDK, etc.)
- Can communicate well, both verbally and via documentation
- Have a track record of working well across teams and functions
- Bonus points if you have experience with Docker, are well-versed in shell scripting, have worked with monitoring and APM tools (Datadog, New Relic, etc.), or have experience with security and compliance, particularly in a regulated environment.
