About The Position

The Information Technology Specialist is responsible for maintaining the school division’s technology infrastructure, including the installation, repair, and upkeep of computer systems, software, and peripheral devices. The position ensures technology systems are operational to support both instructional and administrative functions. The specialist also provides training and support to staff and administrators and assists with student intern development and device repair coordination.

Requirements

High school diploma
Relevant college or technical school coursework in computer technology
Documented training in computer hardware, software, and network troubleshooting and repair
Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation to travel between school sites
Strong communication skills
Excellent customer service
Ability to work independently

Nice To Haves

A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) certifications
Successful experience in IT support roles, especially in educational environments

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and troubleshoot classroom technology and computer hardware/software systems
Perform diagnostics and repairs on devices including computers, Chromebooks, and accessories
Provide onsite technical support to end users across the division
Offer training and mentorship to administrators, staff, and student interns on device and software use
Maintain and support computer labs and classroom technology in optimal working condition
Track and resolve all IT service tickets through the division’s ticketing system
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current educational technology and trends
Assist in inventory management and recordkeeping for technology devices and repairs
Perform quality control checks on technology systems and equipment
Respond to technology emergencies as needed
Perform other IT-related duties as assigned
