About The Position

The Information Technology Specialist provides technical support to the 60 FSS/FSDE Education Center Commercial Network and Voluntary Education and Testing programs at Travis AFB. The primary objective is to deliver high-standard customer support, ensure seamless workflow, and provide minimum downtime for the Education Center's staff offices, classrooms, labs, and computer-based testing assets.

Requirements

  • Proven minimum of one year of current experience (defined as within the past five years).
  • Mandatory A+ and Security+ certifications.
  • Proficiency in hardware and software system administration, particularly with Microsoft products.
  • Ability to provide analytical and advisory expertise for Communications-Computer Systems (C-CS) planning and implementation.
  • Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills are essential.
  • Mandatory knowledge of and/or experience with computer and network security.
  • Must complete a National Agency Check (NAC) investigation to receive a Restricted Area Badge.
  • Must not have any misdemeanors or felony convictions.
  • Must maintain certifications required to sustain elevated network administrative privileges.
  • Must obtain and maintain necessary pass and identification items for base access and comply with all base traffic regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Air Force Automated Education Management System (AFAEMS), Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) systems, and My Learning Career Development Course (CDC) Assessment Systems is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain computer/testing lab servers and ensure all systems are running current versions of Microsoft Windows operating software.
  • Maintain the local area network, including routers, switches, servers, Wi-Fi access points, and marquee/monitor display systems.
  • Provide PC desktop and server support for FSDE computers, printers, and other critical peripherals.
  • Establish backup methodologies and safeguard critical data to ensure uninterrupted service and data recovery.
  • Implement new hardware and software systems, including the setup of new computers and the removal or assembly of furniture and IT equipment as needed.
  • Perform daily inspections of all IT and audio-visual equipment to ensure proper working conditions.
  • Provide recommendations for future systems improvements, create equipment life cycle listings for tech refreshes, and submit Weekly Activity Reports (WAR).
  • Serve as the alternate equipment custodian, conducting annual inventories and accounting for all new equipment within 72 hours of receipt.
  • All tasks must be accomplished in accordance with DoD, Air Force, Air Mobility Command, and local base computer guidelines.
  • Must receive initial and recurring security education training from the sponsoring agency’s Security Manager.
  • In the event of a total system disablement, the employee must respond within four hours.
