About The Position

This position is located at Bassett Army Community Hospital, Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Federal employees in Alaska are currently entitled to receive a 1.49% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary; this is subject to change. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

The Information Technology Specialist (Customer Support) assists customers with technical problems, supports customers’ personal devices, and provides on-site assistance with imaging, installation, maintenance, and operation of personal computer systems. The position also assists system administrators and network operations personnel with Local Area Network (LAN) troubleshooting and performs system administration tasks to track computer-related equipment.

The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. The incumbent must satisfactorily complete Security Plus certification within six months of employment and maintain the required certification or recertification. Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds is required.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship.
• One year of specialized experience providing technical support, assisting in evaluating device, system, or operational issues, and performing system administration tasks; experience must demonstrate the four competencies of attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. Alternatively, applicants may qualify through the specified graduate education.
• Obtain and maintain eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment; a background investigation and credit check are required.
• Satisfactorily complete Security Plus certification within six months of employment and maintain required certification or recertification.
• Consent to seasonal influenza vaccination or provide a recognized exemption.
• Complete a pre-placement medical examination and immunization screening. Hepatitis B immunization is required for positions with direct patient contact; other immunizations may be required depending on the position.
• Ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds.
• Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
• Direct deposit of pay is required.
• A one-year probationary period is required.
