About The Position

UPMC's two-year Information Technology Rotation (ITR) accelerated learning program is a full-time, entry-level position designed for high-achieving participants. The program allows participants to pursue four unique, six-month rotations throughout UPMC’s Information Technology division. The next cohort begins in January 2027. The program offers the chance to explore a wide range of IT roles while contributing to innovative healthcare solutions. It caters to interests in both highly technical and non-technical IT spaces, allowing exploration of various IT functions across UPMC divisions like Corporate Services, Health Services, and Insurance Services. Rotation placements can be in software engineering, project management, and analyst roles within areas such as information security, enterprise architecture, custom application development, project management, coding and testing, infrastructure, Electronic Health Record (EHR) support, and strategic planning. Participants will learn from different IT teams, network with high-level executives, give back to the Pittsburgh community through service events, receive guidance from an IT leader advisor, and build connections within UPMC. Graduates of the program are highly sought after for complex roles across the organization. This role has in-person elements in Pittsburgh, PA, and being located in the Pittsburgh area is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required with undergraduate degree completion in or before January 2027.
  • Majoring in computer science, information systems, health information systems, or related field required.

Nice To Haves

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 preferred.
  • Preference will be given to candidates that have demonstrated leadership ability through their studies, employment, or extracurricular activities.
  • Demonstrated technical or healthcare project management abilities through school projects or university related extracurricular activities preferred.
  • Willingness to rotate job responsibilities every 6 months for a period of 2 years preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest through projects and activities in exploring multiple IT disciplines rather than pursuing a single technical specialty preferred.
  • Preferred candidates will show a variety of differing experiences through their university projects, university extracurriculars, work experiences, and other opportunities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills preferred.

Responsibilities
