About The Position

Achievers Early College Prep Charter School (AECP) is New Jersey’s first early college public charter school for grades 6–12, where students can earn up to 60 college credits before graduating high school. Our mission is to prepare all students—especially those traditionally underrepresented in higher education—for success in college, career, and life. We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Information Technology (IT) Teacher who will inspire and prepare students to thrive in a technology-driven world. The ideal candidate is passionate about computer science, digital literacy, and emerging technologies, and has the ability to make IT concepts engaging and accessible to middle and high school students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Education, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Valid New Jersey Teacher Certification in Technology Education, Computer Science, or related area (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Strong knowledge of IT concepts, programming, and instructional technology.
  • Experience teaching middle or high school students preferred.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and integrate technology into teaching.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Achievers Early College Prep.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in IT, computer science, and digital literacy for grades 6–12.
  • Teach topics such as: Basic computer operations and applications (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace), Coding/programming (Python, Java, Scratch, or similar), Networking fundamentals, Cybersecurity and online safety, Robotics and emerging technologies.
  • Develop project-based learning opportunities that promote collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs and learning styles.
  • Integrate technology into instruction to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Foster students’ problem-solving, computational thinking, and digital citizenship skills.
  • Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, Google IT).
  • Support students in applying IT knowledge to real-world contexts, internships, or early college courses.
  • Provide academic and career guidance related to STEM and IT fields.
  • Work with colleagues to integrate technology into core subjects and interdisciplinary projects.
  • Support schoolwide technology initiatives and promote safe, ethical technology use.
  • Communicate effectively with families about student progress and learning opportunities.
  • Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and schoolwide activities.
  • Maintain accurate lesson plans, student records, and grades.
  • Ensure compliance with NJDOE standards for technology and computer science.
  • Uphold high expectations for student achievement, behavior, and professional ethics.
