About The Position

This is a part-time position with a schedule of Tuesday 10am-2pm, Wednesday 8am-4:30pm, Friday 8am-4pm, and alternating weekend shifts. The Information Desk Representative is responsible for all functions at the information desk during their shift, including issuing patient/visitor passes, greeting everyone who enters the hospital, checking patient rooms for visitors, registering and delivering flower deliveries, and answering phones. This role also involves providing clear and accurate directions to hospital locations. Additionally, the representative will oversee volunteers on their worked shift, ensuring appropriate communication and public relations with volunteer staff, supporting department policies and procedures, and attending relevant meetings. The position requires the ability to work with adult volunteers and volunteens, assist patients in wheelchairs, and manage a high-volume, interruptive environment while maintaining professionalism. The role also includes a lifting requirement of up to 35 pounds without assistance for direct patient care or contact.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Typing, computer skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to be customer focused
  • Ability to demonstrate decision making requirements
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, (day & evening hours)
  • May be called into work with little prior notice
  • Ability to relate with adult volunteer and volunteens
  • Ability to assist patients in wheelchairs (push wheelchairs to nursing floors, etc.)
  • Ability to work with many interruptions maintaining professional demeanor.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all functions at the information desk on shift worked.
  • Issuing patient/visitor passes and temporary passes.
  • Notifying administration immediately in the event of unannounced regulatory agency inspectors’ visit.
  • Greeting everyone who enters the hospital and checking patient rooms on computer for visitors.
  • Registering flower deliveries and delivering flowers.
  • Answering phones courteously and giving clear, accurate directions to hospital.
  • Giving clear directions and maps to areas patients/visitors need to go to.
  • Performing other duties and projects as requested by leadership.
  • Overseeing volunteers on worked shift.
  • Appropriate communication and public relations with volunteer staff.
  • Supporting policies and procedures to uphold the high standards of the Volunteer Services Department.
  • Responsible for attending all Volunteer Department meetings and other meetings at manager’s request.
