About The Position

Provides information, advice, and guidance about events and services of AS and the Student Center. We always strive to provide answers to any SF State-related questions, city questions, transit questions, and anything else you can come up with. We also offer a location for purchasing Clipper Cards, room reservations, organization tabling and key check-in, lost and found, and a friendly place to help you plan your day. We also sell and reload Clipper Cards, a reloadable transit card.

Requirements

  • Must be a currently enrolled SFSU student with a minimum of 6 units for undergraduates or 4 units for graduates.
  • Prior cash register experience and customer service required
  • Available to be on-call for any issues that require immediate attention.
  • One year of supervisory experience include: interviewing, performance management, and discipline.
  • Knowledge of human resource management.
  • Strong knowledge of office management.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication skills: both verbal and listening.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Effective organization skills.
  • Strong computer competency: spreadsheets, word processing programs, memos, organizing meetings, and filing.
  • Strong time management.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and schedule all Information Desk staff.
  • Oversee general services and operations of the Information Desk such as: Lost and Found, publicity postings, transit information, general information, tabling and sales.
  • Maintain staff development and team building throughout the semester.
  • Responsible for gathering and disseminating campus, community, and Student Center Information
  • Liaison with Accounting Office for cash bag and ticket reconciliation.
  • Liaison with building departments, managers, and Information Desk Staff.
  • Attend regular meetings: manager, event preparation, and building operations meetings.
  • Responsible for updating, maintain, and enforcing Information Desk Policies.
  • Responsible for the presentation and ongoing development of the physical desk space.
  • Provide work status reports to supervisors regularly.
  • Must complete assigned manager training courses within first four months of employment
  • Other duties as assigned.
