About The Position

The Informatics Manager RN is responsible for coordinating, planning, designing, developing, integrating, implementing, and evaluating business and clinical information systems. This role provides oversight and responsibility for the performance and operation of the Informatics team, ensuring functionality, utilization, and availability through daily performance monitoring and corrective actions. The manager effectively manages staff to meet organizational and departmental standards, collaborating with users of business/clinical information systems across the continuum. They utilize knowledge of business/clinical practice to identify suitable computer applications, ensure information systems align with professional standards, and participate in computer training for staff, clinicians, and providers. The role adheres to SJH's Corporate Compliance Program, participates in Performance Improvement activities, and performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director IT.

Requirements

  • Associates degree and a minimum of three years of health care experience.
  • Must be able to demonstrate leadership abilities with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Collaborative practice experience.
  • Experience in delivering care from a team approach.
  • Works well within the team structure.
  • Current RN License with the authority to practice in the State of Wyoming.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in nursing or clinical sciences area.
  • Experience in electronic health record implementation.
  • Education or certification in information technology.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting and directing the use of EMR software in clinical nursing and physician practice across all clinical areas.
  • Evaluates clinical work flow and documentation, implementing changes to improve patient care documentation.
  • Coordinates with Clinical staff to understand the impact of application configurations on clinical goals and patient safety.
  • Educates Physicians on new processes and consults on workflow issues related to patient documentation.
  • Maintains a detailed understanding of product content, functionality, and interaction.
  • Helps to develop and implement policies and procedures for IT services.
  • Develops program planning for patient populations.
  • Supports the multidisciplinary team approach.
  • Works with others to identify opportunities for software optimization and process improvement.
  • Maintains detailed records of processes, procedures, and analytical findings, preparing reports for decision-making.
  • Leads teams and meetings on informatics topics.
  • Supervises the Informatics team, preparing schedules, assigning tasks, and ensuring cost-effective resource utilization.
  • Ensures staff are supported by Informatics in all activities.
  • Ensures the organization meets all required metrics and complies with best practices and documentation.
  • Self-evaluates professional knowledge and actively seeks educational opportunities.
  • Assists, teaches, and answers questions for colleagues, serving as a resource at unit and organizational levels.
  • Mentors and precepts new staff at unit and organizational levels.
  • Develops and provides educational instruction at unit and organizational levels, including in-services and competency reviews.
  • Completes hospital-wide and unit-specific competencies in a timely manner.
  • Obtains, renews, and keeps required licenses and certifications current, providing HR with updates and maintaining department education files.
