About The Position

The Infection Control & Prevention Nurse develops and implements facility infection control procedures and practices as part of an interdisciplinary approach to resident and employee safety. The role leads activities to prevent healthcare-associated infections, isolate infection sources, and limit the spread of infectious organisms while promoting a safe and secure environment. Responsibilities also include collecting and analyzing health data, educating healthcare workers, and supporting compliance with applicable regulations and procedures.

Requirements

Registered Nurses must have a broad level of experience, including critical care, emergency medicine, and medical/surgical nursing.
Non-nurse applicants must have 5 years of relevant clinical experience.
Current professional nursing license in the State of Maine.
Highly energetic, adaptable, and creative.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong time-management skills.
Extensive presentation experience.
Working knowledge of nursing practice and theory.
Strong computer and software skills for tracking data and generating reports.

Nice To Haves

Certification in Infection Control (CIC) may be obtained upon hire.

Responsibilities

Manage facility-wide activities to prevent healthcare-associated infections, ensure adherence to isolation procedures, and limit the spread of infectious organisms.
Collect, analyze, and interpret health data to plan, implement, evaluate, and disseminate public health practices.
Conduct educational and training activities for healthcare workers through direct instruction and dissemination of best practices.
Read, analyze, and interpret government regulations, technical procedures, and contracts.
Write reports and correspondence, and respond professionally to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
