The Industry Solutions Engineer for Splunk’s Energy and Utilities sector is a high-visibility individual-contributor role in the Industry Solutions Engineering organization. The role develops targeted, business-outcome-focused use cases and repeatable go-to-market (GTM) assets—including demos, architectures, talk tracks, and proof-of-value (POV) kits—to help Solutions Engineering teams advance strategic deals. The position partners with account teams to connect Splunk and Cisco capabilities to customer operational and security outcomes, and works closely with core Solutions Engineering, industry go-to-market leadership, and product teams. The role serves as an energy and utilities domain authority, supporting customer engagements across security, privacy, compliance, operational resiliency, and operational technology. It translates executive priorities into success criteria, POV delivery, and executive summaries; contributes customer and industry feedback to product management; and coaches AMER Solutions Engineers on sector architecture, buyer mapping, and business-case selling. It also represents Splunk at relevant industry events and user groups. Success is measured by energy and utility revenue impact, repeatable vertical selling, and increased capability across the Solutions Engineering team. Early success includes launching targeted industry plays with defined buyers, success metrics, and data paths; enabling regional teams to run those plays using reusable assets; advancing strategic opportunities through executive engagement, discovery, and converting POVs; and measurably improving AMER Solutions Engineer performance on energy and utility deals. The role can be performed remotely within the United States and requires willingness to travel for customer engagements and industry events. The posted starting salary range for U.S. and/or Canada locations is $239,200 to $314,900, excluding incentive compensation, equity, and benefits; pay depends on factors including hiring location, skills, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, and training. Cisco describes benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) with matching contribution, paid parental leave, disability coverage, life insurance, paid time away, and potential stock grants. Sales-plan employees may receive performance-based incentive pay.
