About The Position

Planet is looking for a strategic Industry Marketing Manager to help grow our commercial business. In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders from across the global commercial business group to drive demand for our products and solutions among industry audiences worldwide. This role sits on the Product, Industry, Partner and Customer Marketing team and is responsible for developing compelling narratives that resonate with audiences in agriculture, energy, insurance and other industry verticals. On a day-to-day basis, you will deeply understand customer challenges, determine effective engagement strategies, and arm sales and marketing stakeholders with the right messaging, content, and competitive insights. This role offers the opportunity to market groundbreaking data products and AI-powered solutions built on our unique near-daily Earth scan. You’ll partner closely with sales to establish Planet’s unique role in several markets and have the autonomy to determine priorities, deciding not only which projects to pursue, but also how to craft and deliver the messaging. As a go-to resource for cross-functional teams, you'll guide key marketing functions to ensure we tell compelling stories across diverse formats and channels. Your work will be used by internal stakeholders at all levels and seen by executive audiences worldwide. The ideal candidate can rapidly grasp technical concepts and develop simple and effective narratives that resonate with industry audiences. This role is expected to routinely present internally and externally at events and webinars, and should be adept at public speaking and evangelizing Planet’s mission and solutions. This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to work from our San Francisco or Washington D.C. office 3 days per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree
  • 6+ years of B2B, product or solutions marketing
  • Experience marketing to agriculture, energy or insurance industry audiences
  • Track record positioning and marketing B2B/enterprise products
  • Exceptional listening and influence skills
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills
  • Creative and analytical thinking skills; ability to synthesize information
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience partnering with product, sales, and executive stakeholders and communicating across leadership
  • Excellent organizational skills, self-starter with ability to collaborate across departments

Responsibilities

  • Work with our commercial team to identify and prioritize key markets and expansion strategies in agriculture, energy, insurance, and other industries
  • Shape the internal positioning and messaging resources that drive wider GTM initiatives and marketing campaigns
  • Produce and maintain a portfolio of marketing assets and sales enablement tools (presentations, data sheets, demos, battlecards, etc.)
  • Partner with sales to strategize on account-specific marketing programs and content to support pipeline growth and expansion
  • Work closely with broader marketing teams (growth, regional, creative, and communications) to execute industry and account-based marketing campaigns
  • Host customer-facing webinars
  • Collaborate with technical teams to create interactive demos and narratives that showcase product value to be used for trade shows, industry events, and sales outreach
  • Work with Partner Sales and Marketing to support co-marketing efforts with strategic partners
