About The Position

Gates is a leading manufacturer of application-specific fluid power and power transmission solutions. We push the boundaries of material science to engineer solutions that continually exceed customer expectations. This role involves repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, fans, and air conditioners. The ideal candidate will examine mechanical equipment to diagnose trouble, disassemble machines, repair or replace broken parts, adjust functional parts, and perform routine maintenance. The position operates under minimal supervision and requires a strong understanding of industrial machinery repair and millwrighting.

Requirements

Secondary school education required.
Completion of apprenticeship program and trade certification.
Minimum of five years work experience in the trade in industrial machinery repair or millwrighting.
Experience and judgement to plan and accomplish assigned objectives.
Expertise in a technical specialty.
Four years of formal training or equivalent and significant related work experience.

Welding and machining would be an asset.

Responsibilities

Read diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
Install stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to plans using hand and power tools.
Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during installation, set-up, and repair.
Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
Operate machine tools such as lathes and grinders to fabricate parts.
Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.
Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.
Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, fans, air conditioners, etc.
Examine mechanical equipment to diagnose trouble.
Disassemble machines and repair or replace broken parts.
Adjust functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary.
Clean and lubricate parts.
Order replacement parts.
Inspect completed repairs.
Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Requisition new parts and equipment.
Work towards and support TPM in conjunction with Lean Manufacturing principles.
