About The Position

UPS is hiring Building and Systems Engineering (BaSE) Mechanics to maintain equipment and systems that keep a UPS package handling facility operating efficiently and effectively. The work is fast-paced and involves routine interaction with other hub employees. Candidates must have a strong electrical background and pass an electrical assessment. The operation runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and employees must be available to work a first, second, or third shift.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer.
• Must be available to work first, second, or third shift in a 24/7 operation.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, adjust, and replace AC and DC electrical equipment, including batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, timers, servo-driven equipment, photoelectric devices, transducers, variable frequency drives, and encoders.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace mechanical components, including motors, reducers, drive chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, rollers, conveyor belts, bearings, and transfer plates.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace pneumatic equipment, including diverters, lubricators, hoses, and coils.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace hydraulic equipment, including hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pumps.
• Weld equipment such as handrails, conveyor supports, package handling equipment, carts, and grating, as defined by the scope of work.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections of plant equipment, including conveyors, bulk carts, and power industrial equipment.
