About The Position

Phlow is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Industrial Hygienist (CIH) to join our team at the Petersburg, VA manufacturing plant. Reporting to the Director of EHS, the successful candidate will be responsible for anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling occupational health hazards and ensuring a safe and compliant workplace environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in chemical manufacturing or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial hygiene standards.
  • Proficiency in using industrial hygiene sampling and monitoring equipment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Technical proficiency in industrial hygiene software and tools.
  • Ability to conduct detailed risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive industrial hygiene programs to monitor and control chemical, biological, and physical hazards.
  • Conduct regular industrial hygiene surveys and assessments to identify potential health risks and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.
  • Sustain programs such as respiratory protection, hazard communication, hearing conservation, and risk assessments.
  • Maintain and calibrate various sampling and monitoring equipment to ensure accurate data collection.
  • Analyze and interpret data from industrial hygiene assessments to develop and recommend effective control measures.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to employees on occupational safety and health practices, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and potent compound Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including research & development, operations, and engineering to address and mitigate workplace hazards.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports of findings from industrial hygiene assessments to leadership and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct and review incident investigations to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in industrial hygiene and occupational health.
