About The Position

Infineon Technologies is hiring an entry-level Industrial Equipment Engineer to support a semiconductor Assembly & Final Test factory. The role focuses on CAD design packages, tool utility connections, and hands-on equipment support for production tools, including wire bonders, die attach systems, dicing saws, seal and lid-seal equipment, IC handlers, wafer probers, automated test equipment (ATE), and burn-in ovens and boards. The engineer will work closely with Equipment Engineering, Facilities, Process Engineering, and Manufacturing; own tool-level utility design from the stub-out to the tool inlet; and support equipment installation and commissioning on the manufacturing floor. The position reports directly to the Equipment Engineering Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0–1 years of experience; internship, co-op, or capstone experience is accepted.
  • Intermediate AutoCAD 2D skills, including layers, blocks, dimensions, and title blocks.
  • Ability to draft and interpret P&IDs using standard ISA symbols and conventions.
  • Basic understanding of fluid mechanics and pneumatics, including pressure, flow, and basic pipe sizing.
  • Comfort working on a manufacturing floor, with strong attention to detail and documentation discipline.
  • Willingness to support off-shift, weekend, or shutdown work during equipment installations.
  • Comfort working under ESD, PPE, and cleanroom requirements and ability to lift 40 lbs occasionally.
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship, permanent U.S. residency, or protected-individual classification is required because the position involves access to documentation controlled by U.S. export laws.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain equipment layouts, P&IDs, piping isometrics, redlines, and as-builts for semiconductor manufacturing tools.
  • Prepare complete installation and design packages, including Utility Connection Sheets, bills of materials, and engineering notes.
  • Specify point-of-use hardware for CDA, N2, forming gas, vacuum, exhaust, DI water, chilled water, and electrical utilities.
  • Select regulators, pressure gauges, flow meters, MFCs, valves, filters, tubing, and fittings based on tool requirements and site standards.
  • Support equipment installations and moves by conducting utility verification, leak testing, and pressure, flow, vacuum, and gas purge checks with general contractors.
  • Provide electrical and mechanical troubleshooting for Assembly and Test tools, including wire bond, die attach, saw, seal, handlers, probers, testers, and burn-in equipment.
  • Update PM checklists, spare-parts recommendations, and maintenance documentation for installed equipment.
