About The Position

The Industrial Engineer at CAD Railway Industries is responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing manufacturing line layouts, tooling strategies, and parts storage systems to improve efficiency, safety, quality, and cost performance. This role works closely with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to support production readiness and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
  • 1 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, material flow, and line balancing
  • Proficiency with design and analysis tools (AutoCAD, Visio, SolidWorks, or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and good mechanical understanding
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across functions
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Comfortable working on the production floor in a dynamic environment

Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize manufacturing line layouts to support efficient material flow, ergonomics, takt time compliance, and production capacity
  • Develop line balancing plans based on demand, labor standards, and equipment capacity
  • Evaluate and improve workstation layouts to reduce waste, unnecessary motion, and cycle time
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) by defining scalable and flexible line layouts
  • Define tooling requirements for each process step, including fixtures, jigs, gauges, and specialized equipment
  • Collaborate with production and design engineers to ensure tooling supports quality, safety, and productivity objectives
  • Participate in equipment selection, integration into line layouts, and commissioning
  • Develop standard work instructions related to tooling use and installation
  • Design point-of-use parts storage systems, including racks, bins, kitting systems, and parts supermarkets
  • Optimize material handling methods to reduce travel distances, handling time, and inventory levels
  • Collaborate with supply chain and logistics teams to define replenishment strategies (kanban, FIFO, line-side delivery)
  • Ensure parts storage solutions support quality, traceability, and ergonomics
  • Conduct time studies, motion analysis, and capacity analysis
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and industrial engineering principles (5S, kaizen, value stream mapping)
  • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce costs and improve productivity and quality
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPI) related to efficiency, utilization, and production throughput
  • Create and maintain layout drawings, process flows, work standards, and capacity models
  • Develop manufacturing standards for line layouts, tooling, and storage systems
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with safety and ergonomic standards
