About The Position

This is a full-time design position reporting to the Design Manager at our Product Innovation Centre located in Blainville, Quebec. The Industrial Designer will collaborate with the category management and development teams to create future hockey equipment products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Industrial Design or related field- or equivalent years of relevant and related experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of corporate experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop software.
  • Excellent hand sketching skills to communicate ideas.
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing process and different materials.
  • Understands design trends and how to translate them to design application.
  • Able to work individually as well as with a diverse group of people.
  • Excellent time/project management skills.
  • Ability to work on multiples projects with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills in both French and English (written and verbal).

Nice To Haves

  • 3D CAD modeling proficiency is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Generative AI tools supporting creativity is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Create innovative product designs that respect Bauer’s brand, improve product performance that reach and appeal to targeted consumers.
  • Actively contribute to seasonal creative strategy for product lines and complete 2-3 projects per season including all their respective price points.
  • Communicate and present visual concept solutions to product briefs.
  • Collaborate with product team to create visual material that effectively communicates design direction, product concept, and target consumers to internal/external audiences.
  • Integrate the Launch Team and work closely with all members to focus product designs for market success.
  • Actively seek expert input to develop appropriate designs regarding cost/value, fit & performance, manufacturability, sustainability, merchandising and aesthetic finish.
  • Create new practices, processes and graphic applications to increase product value and performance.
  • Execute and proactively work on all product details; construction, color, form, style, fit, performance, cost/value requirements, etc.
  • Review all samples and clearly communicate changes requirements to Development team.
  • Ensure the timely completion of each project.
  • Take responsibility for final product result.
  • Display excellent knowledge and practice in all phases of product execution – share knowledge and advancement with others.
  • Comprehend and utilize knowledge of category-specific consumers/players and of hockey culture to improve product performance and appearance.
  • Be knowledgeable about competitor products, consumer habits and market trends.
  • Act as a strategic business partner by providing design leadership, guidance, general support & advice to the team members, on day-to-day basis.
  • Partners with Directors to develop designs strategies that effectively address business needs.
