About The Position

Carpenter Company has an immediate opening for an Industrial Engineer at their Temple, TX manufacturing plant. This position supports the Division manufacturing operation by improving productivity, profitability, quality, and product flow using engineering principles enabling the effective use of people, machines, space utilization, and materials. The role involves utilizing engineering abilities as a project manager, facility and equipment design, modification, repair, and troubleshooting. The Industrial Engineer must be able to perform classic industrial engineering functions throughout the entire manufacturing and branch facilities, with complexity, duration, and technical skills varying according to task. The ability to interface with all levels within the manufacturing facility is a must. This position requires the skills to analyze situations and methods, communicate recommendations and solutions, and implement or assist in process improvements. Some travel is required to provide industrial engineering to the division branches or assistance to other divisions as requested. The position is exposed to temperature changes and various conditions based on the assigned project. Major challenges involve developing product specifications that best utilize company resources.

Requirements

  • BS Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent management work experience.
  • Two to four years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have a broad engineering background.
  • Strong computer skills (i.e. CAD, CNC, programming and spreadsheets).

Responsibilities

  • Works with customers concerning product design.
  • Conducts studies pertaining to cost reduction, cost control, and inventory control.
  • Works with the sales personnel to address product and process needs.
  • Conducts studies to optimize material usage.
  • Develops studies to analyze and optimize workflow and line balancing.
  • Draft and design layouts for plant equipment, production operations, and office design.
  • Develops bills of material and labor routings.
  • Estimates production and material costs for new products.
  • Creates new products and develops CAD drawings.
  • Creates process specifications for new products for pricing and manufacturing from CAD drawings.
  • Analyzes company reports regarding materials yields, production yields, and labor utilization.
  • Completes and maintains logs required by company policy.
  • Tracks and forecasts production requirements.
