About The Position

The Industrial Engineer Intern will help streamline operations and enhance efficiency in a high-volume distribution environment. Working alongside experienced engineers, the intern will optimize workflow, analyze performance data, and contribute to process improvement initiatives supporting Lowe’s supply chain. The role offers an opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world logistics challenges during a 10-week summer internship program running May 24 through July 30, 2027. The internship location is to be determined; additional information will be communicated closer to the program kickoff. The intern will apply lean principles and industrial engineering methods to warehouse processes; analyze material flow, labor standards, and equipment utilization; and develop recommendations to improve productivity, safety, and quality. The role also uses data-driven tools to support cost reduction and throughput improvements, collaborates with operations teams to implement and sustain process enhancements, and participates in daily planning, performance reporting, and root cause analysis. The position is based in a distribution-center environment. Working conditions may include indoor and outdoor weather, varying climates, noise, and moving or shaking objects and equipment. Physical activities may include bending, reaching, lifting, and climbing. Associates must follow lifting guidelines; a single lift by a Distribution Center associate should not exceed 70 pounds, with or without an accommodation. Powered equipment may be used when needed, provided the associate is properly trained.
