The Electrician will assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. They will diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. This role involves troubleshooting and repairing all aspects of electrical power distribution systems with utilization voltages of 480V, 4,160V and 13.8KV, as well as AC induction motors of all types, single and three phases. The electrician will also develop a working knowledge of various PLC manufacturers and control systems for troubleshooting and interlock testing, and maintain professional working relationships with multi-discipline maintenance teams. Safety awareness and adherence to plant safety procedures are paramount. The position requires the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, connect wires to components, inspect electrical systems for hazards, and advise management on operational safety. Testing electrical systems, repairing or replacing components, and working from heights using ladders and scaffolds are also key duties. The role may require performing work while wearing various types of personal protective equipment.
