About The Position

BLOX is a Design-Manufacture-Construct company headquartered in Bessemer, Alabama. It designs and builds modular buildings, building components, and sub-assemblies in a controlled factory environment before delivering and installing them in the field. The Industrial Designer II designs physical products and spaces used in healthcare, mission-critical, and other facilities, including patient bathrooms, exam rooms, headwalls, and other building products. The role joins a new product launch team and leads concept development, form, ergonomics, configuration, and materials. It carries design intent through to the factory floor, working with engineering and manufacturing to ensure products are efficient to build, transport, and install while balancing user needs, manufacturability, cost, and quality. This is an on-site role at BLOX’s Bessemer, Alabama facility, with time split between the design office and manufacturing floor. The employee must be able to walk the production floor and wear required personal protective equipment. BLOX offers comprehensive benefits and support for employees pursuing licenses and certifications, with pathways for skill development and career advancement.

  • Apply design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly principles so products are efficient to build, inspect, ship, and install.
  • Maintain design revisions so models, drawings, and bills of material remain traceable and aligned through change control.
  • Work daily with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program management to resolve build issues and incorporate lessons into the design.
