About The Position

This is a remote, part-time independent contractor consulting engagement supporting an advanced AI training project focused on engineering design analysis. The expert will review complex multi-part CAD assemblies in native FreeCAD format, interpret design intent and component relationships, and develop technically grounded question-and-answer content based on real engineering data. The work calls for strong CAD knowledge, careful technical reasoning, and the ability to create objective, unambiguous, assessment-ready material. No prior AI experience is required. The work includes CAD assembly interpretation and design analysis; technical question development; precise answer authoring and validation against CAD geometry, assembly relationships, and available documentation; and preparation of clear technical documentation. The consultant will collaborate with project coordinators to clarify requirements, resolve ambiguities, and suggest process or content improvements, while managing assigned deliverables independently to agreed quality standards and timelines. Project scope, workload, timing, and duration may evolve with project requirements. Work must not use confidential or proprietary information belonging to an employer, client, institution, or other third party.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated background in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, industrial design, or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of CAD systems and engineering design principles.
  • Expertise interpreting multi-part assembly drawings, CAD files, and technical documentation.
  • Proven ability to author technical documentation, assessment material, or other structured engineering content.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to technical precision.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deliverables effectively in a remote environment.
  • Strong experience with multi-part CAD assemblies and technical design interpretation is important.
  • Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, or other third party.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with FreeCAD or comparable CAD environments; direct FreeCAD experience is advantageous but not required.
  • Interest in technical education, structured assessment, or expert-driven AI initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Review complex multi-part CAD assemblies provided in native FreeCAD format.
  • Analyze design intent, assembly structure, component relationships, functional behavior, mechanical features, interfaces, and technical nuances.
  • Apply industrial design, mechanical engineering, or aerospace knowledge to interpret technical details accurately and consistently.
  • Develop multiple unique, objective, verifiable technical questions for each assigned assembly, covering its structure, function, component relationships, and design considerations.
  • Write precise answers grounded in the underlying CAD data and verify them against geometry, assembly relationships, and available technical documentation.
  • Review question-and-answer sets for clarity, consistency, and correctness, and identify conclusions that are unclear or insufficiently supported.
  • Produce clear technical documentation and structured engineering content.
  • Communicate technical concepts through written and verbal channels; collaborate with project coordinators to clarify requirements and resolve ambiguities.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions to improve project processes and content quality.
  • Manage assigned deliverables independently while maintaining agreed quality standards and timelines.
