About The Position

This part-time, fully remote independent contractor opportunity supports an advanced AI training project focused on high-fidelity, multi-part aerospace engineering assemblies. The professional will examine complex aerospace CAD assemblies and native design files, interpret design intent and component relationships, and create technically precise questions and answers grounded in real engineering data. The work calls for objective engineering reasoning, accuracy, and strong technical documentation skills; prior AI experience is not required. The engagement includes aerospace assembly analysis, CAD interpretation, technical question authoring, answer development, and documentation. Project scope, workload, timing, and duration may change according to project requirements. Work must not use confidential or proprietary information belonging to an employer, client, institution, or other third party. Compensation is $40–$80 per hour.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial design, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Strong foundation in CAD principles and engineering design interpretation.
  • Hands-on experience working with multi-part CAD assemblies.
  • Ability to interpret complex design intent, component relationships, and technical drawings.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills, including the ability to explain engineering concepts clearly, concisely, and accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to objective, high-quality technical work.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with distributed technical teams.
  • Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to an employer, client, institution, or other third party.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with FreeCAD or similar CAD platforms; FreeCAD experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Experience authoring precise technical questions and answers.
  • Interest in intelligent engineering-design systems and advanced technical tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Review complex multi-part aerospace assemblies and interpret their structure, function, and design intent.
  • Analyze native CAD files and related technical information.
  • Identify relationships among components, subassemblies, interfaces, and functional features.
  • Apply mechanical and aerospace engineering principles to interpret assembly behavior and evaluate technical details precisely and consistently.
  • Develop objective, technically rigorous questions grounded in aerospace assembly data, including questions requiring exact, non-guessable answers.
  • Create several high-quality questions per assembly covering important components, functions, and relationships.
  • Ensure questions are clear, relevant, technically defensible, and suitable for structured evaluation, using a program-agnostic approach.
  • Produce clear, well-researched answers supported by the underlying CAD assembly data.
  • Verify that answers reflect geometry, assembly relationships, and engineering intent; identify ambiguity or insufficient evidence before reaching conclusions.
  • Maintain consistency between questions, answers, and referenced design information.
  • Contribute to project documentation, feedback, and iterative improvement of question sets.
  • Communicate technical concepts in writing and occasional verbal collaboration; clarify requirements and resolve technical uncertainties with project stakeholders.
  • Apply standards-driven reasoning and support improvement of technical workflows and engineering evaluation materials.
