About The Position

Turkey Hill is a growing, nationwide company founded in Southcentral Pennsylvania in 1931, known for its delicious ice cream and beverages. The Refrigeration Mechanic I plays a crucial role in maintaining and repairing various industrial systems to ensure operational efficiency and product safety.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma required
  • Must work in a team environment
  • Maintain adherence to work hours scheduled specifically starting, ending, lunch and break schedules
  • Perform all duties within established Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations and safety guidelines
  • Be accountable to the Turkey Hill Food Safety and Quality Principles
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Nice To Haves

  • Ammonia/NH3 experience is a plus (Ammonia Operator 1 or RETA)

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair industrial refrigeration, boiler, plumbing, fire protection, compressed air, heating, water treatment, and related systems in accordance with blueprints, engineering specifications, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM), troubleshooting, diagnostics, and system testing using appropriate electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic tools and equipment; replace or adjust defective components as needed.
  • Assemble, align, and install piping, valves, pumps, compressors, controls, motors, and related components; start up, shut down, evacuate, recharge, and monitor systems to ensure proper pressure, temperature, and performance.
  • Operate and maintain boilers and auxiliary equipment, conduct fire pump testing, monitor system readings, and respond appropriately to alarms and performance variances.
  • Maintain labeling, complete required documentation and purchase requisitions, and support equipment cleaning and sanitation activities.
  • Maintain required certifications (including respirator/mask qualification) and comply with all safety, GMP, SQF, regulatory, and company standards to ensure the production of safe, quality food.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency.
  • Work overtime, including weekends, as required to meet manufacturing needs.
