About The Position

The Ammonia Mechanic makes an impact by - Maintain and monitor all equipment associated with the ammonia system including but not limited to freezing centers and ammonia cooling heat exchangers being used in accordance to all applicable SOPs related to sanitary condition, cleanliness, and equipment condition. Maintain and monitor all documentation associated with the ammonia refrigeration system including but not limited to process safety manuals, annual release reporting, and Tier reports. Monitor facilities in environmentally conditioned areas and make required adjustments to refrigeration and air handling devices to maintain specifications for each area. Maintain all equipment associated with the manufacture of frozen desserts including but not limited to freezing centers, fillers, tanks, pumps agitators, conveyors, and packaging equipment in accordance to all applicable SOPs related to sanitary condition, cleanliness, and equipment condition. Maintain and manage all aspects of a robust cGMP compliant preventive maintenance program. Maintain site facilities in accordance with corporate and cGMP requirements. Maintain accurate site drawings as required by the quality system. Manage on-site contractors and vendors for facilities and maintenance functions. Participate in developing specifications related to new equipment design and purchase. Work closely with operations to develop and execute any required equipment Installation and Operational qualifications. Monitor and control hazardous waste streams including waste stream development and waste disposition with outside contractors. Develop and manage an approved budget for the maintenance area. Maintain the integrity of the quality system. Be engaged in the day-to-day running of the business by performing tasks beyond normal/baseline job responsibilities and participating in team or business improvement meetings and initiatives positioned toward improving business results.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing plant or warehouse setting
  • Completion of two-year program from a vocation / technical school
  • Must have Ammonia Operator 1 Certification
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must work in a team environment
  • Maintain adherence to work hours scheduled specifically starting, ending, lunch and break schedules
  • Perform all duties within established Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations and safety guidelines
  • Be accountable to the Turkey Hill Food Safety and Quality Principles
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
