About The Position
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will support the safe and efficient operation of the ammonia refrigeration system while developing the technical skills required to become a certified refrigeration operator. You will assist with inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities while participating in safety and compliance programs within a manufacturing environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Strong communication skills
- Technical school coursework or experience in industrial maintenance, heating ventilation and air conditioning, electrical, or mechanical systems or one year of industrial refrigeration or maintenance experience
- Mechanical aptitude and commitment to continuous learning
- Strong commitment to safety practices
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Nice To Haves
- Basic understanding of refrigeration principles preferred
- Experience using hand and power tools preferred
- Experience troubleshooting closed loop mechanical refrigeration systems preferred
- Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator certification or Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator certification preferred
- Operator 1 or Operator 2 training preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily operation and monitoring of the ammonia refrigeration system
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and report abnormal conditions
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities
- Learn to safely operate and maintain compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, valves, and associated equipment
- Participate in Process Safety Management and safety programs
- Follow all company safety procedures, lockout tagout requirements, and environmental regulations
- Maintain accurate logs, records, and maintenance documentation
- Respond to refrigeration system alarms and assist with troubleshooting efforts
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency
- Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams
- Participate in on call rotations following training
