About The Position

The Ammonia/Refrigeration Technician is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing heating, ventilation, air, and refrigeration equipment involving ammonia or other refrigerants, following safety standards. This role performs daily checks on all refrigeration systems/equipment, leads the refrigeration team, and replaces/repairs boilers, ammonia systems, coolers, compressors, and HVAC systems. The technician will also perform scheduled maintenance on evaporators and condensers, change and clean filters, monitor, clean, and repair plant systems, requisition parts and supplies, and inspect/clean work areas. Additionally, the role involves completing required paperwork, repairing/supporting/replacing/modifying machinery and wiring, and maintaining documentation according to OSHA and EPA regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of refrigeration maintenance or related experience.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of Plant safety, GMP's.
  • Knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • LOTO/PIT/confined space certified.
  • Respirator trained.
  • HAZMAT trained & a member of the HAZMAT team.
  • Knowledge of IIAR.RETA and PSM Guidelines.
  • Responsible moving up to 50 lbs.

  • Commercial HVAC and Industrial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the refrigeration team to accomplish tasks or resolve issues.
  • Replace and repair boilers, ammonia system, coolers, compressors, and HVAC systems.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on evaporators and condensers.
  • Change and clean filters promptly.
  • Monitor, clean, and repair plant systems (e.g., condensers, traps, and filtrations).
  • Requisition parts and supplies.
  • Inspect and clean work areas using proper tools according to procedure.
  • Complete required paperwork promptly.
  • Repair, support, replace and modify machinery, wiring, piping.
  • Maintain and complete all required documentation following OSHA and EPA regulatory requirements (e.g., logs, records, and checklist).
  • Complete other tasks as assigned.
