Inductive Automation & System QA Engineer

The AES Group•Cupertino, CA

About The Position

The AES Group is seeking an Inductive Automation & System QA Engineer to design, build, and bring up automated test stations for wireless charging systems. The role combines software automation with mechanical and CAD fixture design. The engineer will create and assemble test fixtures, build Python-based test frameworks to control laboratory instrumentation, integrate end-to-end test benches, execute charging and protocol tests, and investigate defects across electromechanical, firmware, and software systems. The position is located in Cupertino, California.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, computer science, or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of experience testing complex electromechanical or embedded systems.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD, such as NX or SolidWorks, for fixture and jig design.
  • Hands-on rapid prototyping experience, including 3D printing or light fabrication, and actuator and sensor integration.
  • Strong Python skills and experience building modular test frameworks from scratch.
  • Hands-on experience controlling laboratory instruments using SCPI, VISA, Serial, or USB.
  • Ability to isolate defects across hardware, firmware, and host software layers.
  • Ability to write test plans, manage regression runs, and communicate issues clearly in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with inductive or wireless charging standards such as Qi and Qi2, and USB-PD.
  • Experience with SQL databases and automated test telemetry or reporting dashboards.
  • Familiarity with Git and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) automation pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Design 3D CAD test fixtures, nest plates, and alignment jigs; prototype them using 3D printing or machining and assemble them.
  • Architect and maintain Python-based test frameworks that control laboratory instrumentation, including programmable power supplies, electronic loads, DAQs, and relays.
  • Deploy end-to-end test benches that combine physical actuators or stages with software harnesses for reliable unattended runs.
  • Run automated charge stability, regression, and protocol testing across inductive charging setups, including Qi, Qi2, and magnetic charging.
  • Root-cause electromechanical, firmware, and software defects; document findings and work with cross-functional teams to drive bugs to resolution.
  • Write test plans, manage regression runs, and communicate issues clearly in English.
