About The Position

The Indoor Pool Lifeguard monitors aquatic activities to ensure the safety of all guests by enforcing rules, responding to emergencies, and maintaining strong knowledge of rescue, first aid, and safety procedures.

Requirements

Must be at least 15 years of age.
Lifeguarding License from the National Pool and Water Park Lifeguarding. (Ellis License)
Ability to show up on time for scheduled shifts, in uniform, and with all Lifeguard lifesaving equipment.
Ability to provide excellent guest service and the ability to positively interact with guests on a daily basis.
Demonstrate consistent attendance and on-time arrival.
A valid Illinois driver’s license is required.
Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
Must have CPR/AED certification or be able to earn within 60 days.

Responsibilities

Maintains a professional image and enforce all rules, regulations, and work to create a safe aquatic environment.
Performs the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
Demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of all safety, rescue, swimming lessons, and first aid procedures at the pool.
Actively participates in a minimum of four (4) hours of training each month including daily in-service drills.
Accept responsibility for the cleanliness of the facility as assigned.
Responsible for set up and clean up the facility prior to opening and after closing, respectively.
Participates in required training and safety programs as established by the Wheeling Park District.

Performs special projects or other duties as assigned.
