About The Position

Emler Swim School is seeking a part-time Indoor Lifeguard in Fitchburg, Wisconsin, to help create a safe, fun, and encouraging environment where children and other swimmers can learn and thrive. The lifeguard monitors pool activities, protects swimmers, responds to emergencies, and helps maintain a welcoming experience for students and families. The role also supports swim instructors, promotes water safety, and keeps the pool area clean and hazard-free. Lifeguards may oversee pool safety during weekend parties booked by families.

Set shifts include evenings and weekends, with opportunities to pick up additional hours. The role offers a pay range of $18.00 to $22.00 per hour, depending on experience, skills, and certifications. Entry-level team members start at the beginning of the range, with opportunities for pay increases.

Requirements

• Current Lifeguard, CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications (Red Cross or equivalent).
• Strong swimming and rescue skills.
• Ability to stay aware and act quickly in an emergency.
• Dependable, safety-focused, and calm under pressure.
• Friendly, team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills.
• Must be at least 15 years old.

Responsibilities

• Monitor pool activities to maintain a safe, positive environment.
• Enforce pool rules and respond quickly to emergencies.
• Perform rescues and administer first aid and CPR/AED when necessary.
• Conduct safety checks and report hazards or maintenance needs.
• Maintain attention to reduce risks and promote safety.
• Support swim instructors and help educate swimmers on water safety.
• Keep the pool area clean, organized, and hazard-free.
• Participate in regular training and safety drills.
• Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining safety oversight.
• Help keep pools safe during weekend parties booked by families.
