About The Position

Sea Colony Recreational in Bethany Beach, Delaware, is hiring a part-time Pool Lifeguard. The role focuses on swimmer safety, pool upkeep, first aid, and maintaining an orderly pool area. Employees are required to have American Red Cross Lifeguard certification by their first day of work and must pass an interview and a 400-yard freestyle swim test. Compensation is $18.00 per hour. Requirements

Must be at least 15 years of age.
Must have American Red Cross Lifeguard certification by the first day of work.
Must complete an interview and pass a 400-yard freestyle swim test.
Regular and reliable attendance.
Knowledge of accepted sanitation standards and applicable health codes.
International J-1 applicants must be currently enrolled as students; H-2B visa holders are not eligible.

Responsibilities

Supervise and observe swimmers at all times to ensure their safety.
Administer first aid for minor injuries, such as cuts and bruises.
Enforce rules of conduct.
Perform pool maintenance, including checking chemicals and vacuuming the pool.
Check first aid supplies and report needed items to management in a timely manner.
Organize and monitor pool games and suggest poolside games.
Skim bugs and other debris from the pool surface and empty the automatic skimmer to prepare the pool for daily use.
Clean and organize the pool area at the end of the day.
Maintain records as determined by the department manager.
Incorporate safe work practices into job performance.
