About The Position

This is a field-based position, working in the community in clients’ apartments as part of a residential treatment model. The role is responsible for all aspects of an assigned caseload in a transitional community-based mental health housing program. Clients will have a mental health diagnosis (SPMI) and/or substance use disorder. The Independent Living Specialist will assist with the intake and admission process, provide restorative services daily, develop and update service plans, maintain chart documentation, provide supportive counseling, teach and assist with activities of daily living, assist clients with money management and independent medication, assist with recreational activities, and provide linkages and referrals to community resources such as medical, mental health and/or substance abuse services as needed. The role utilizes a harm reduction approach and motivational interviewing techniques with clients. Regular visits to client apartments are required to ensure a safe and secure environment and to assist with coordinating repairs as needed. The position involves participation in community meetings and interdisciplinary team meetings, being on call during off-hours, and participating in BRC approved trainings. Emergency first aid/CPR assistance will be provided when needed. Related duties are assigned. The position reports to the clinical supervisor.

Requirements

  • Basic computer literacy required
  • CPR training certification or willingness to take training class in CPR

Nice To Haves

  • BA strongly preferred, but will consider several years of related experience in mental health field in lieu of BA
