About The Position

Lakeland University seeks a mission-oriented individual passionate about creating a more inclusive world to join the Life and Career Services Program team. This four-year residential program is designed to prepare students for meaningful employment, as well as independent and community living. The Independent Living Coordinator (ILC) will empower students with disabilities to achieve greater independence and participate fully in the college community. This role focuses on providing individualized support, training, and resources to help students develop essential life skills, navigate college life, and prepare for successful transitions to adulthood.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in special education, social work, occupational therapy, rehabilitation psychology, or related degree
  • At least 2 years of relevant teaching or experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities at the secondary or post-secondary level
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree is preferred but is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead comprehensive, person-centered support for students by assessing life skills needs, developing and implementing individualized plans, delivering direct instruction and coaching, facilitating goal setting and case management, supervising program staff, and coordinating campus/community resources to promote independent living and overall student success.
  • Foster inclusion and independence by promoting student engagement in campus and community life, supporting navigation of transportation and essential campus resources, building meaningful relationships, and advancing disability awareness and inclusive practices across the campus community.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to provide holistic student support, maintain respectful communication with families while honoring student autonomy, and engage in ongoing team collaboration and professional development.
  • Manage program operations and continuous improvement by maintaining accurate records, analyzing data, collaborating with campus partners, and designing experiences that build independent living skills.
