About The Position

The Independent Living Mentor & Coach provides support to members of JEVS Human Services’ Independence Network, a supportive community that empowers young adults with disabilities to live independent lives. Members work with staff to set goals and identify their interests and needs, and supports are tailored to help them pursue their goals. This is a community-based opportunity that may be located in Camden, Burlington, and/or Gloucester counties, depending on availability. The role involves working with members in their homes and in the community.

Responsibilities

• Develop rapport with assigned individuals and cultivate safe, supportive relationships.
• Contribute to plans that support individuals in pursuing their goals and dreams.
• Teach independent living skills and develop strategies individuals can use to continue growing their independence.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to support social skills.
• Coach individuals to establish volunteer opportunities or paid employment.
• Assist individuals in engaging in community activities that match their interests.
