About The Position

DABS Inc provides comprehensive life skills training to adults with developmental disabilities, particularly those experiencing placement challenges across California. The organization develops placement opportunities to help clients live and thrive with dignity within a network of community support and outreach. This role supports clients in reaching their goals, building meaningful relationships, and accessing learning and community opportunities while respecting their independence and helping them make informed decisions based on their needs and wishes. The Independent Living Instructor assists consumers with everyday activities, including light housekeeping, meal preparation, errands, and personal hygiene routines. Medication assistance may be required depending on consumer needs. The position also involves taking consumers on outings, documenting changes in their overall status, and collaborating with internal and external professionals.

Requirements

Current CPR certification; resources to complete certification can be provided.
Recent TB test; resources to complete this can be provided.
Reliable transportation to and from work.
For roles requiring driving, a valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and insurance are required.
Must undergo federal and state fingerprint background checks.

Nice To Haves

Some experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is useful but not required.

Responsibilities

Assist consumers with everyday activities, including light housekeeping, meal preparation, running errands, and creating or providing personal hygiene routines.
Assist with medication administration when required by consumer needs.
Take consumers on outings.
Track and document changes in clients’ overall status.
Work with a team of internal and external professionals.
