About The Position

DABS Inc provides comprehensive life skills training to adults with developmental disabilities, especially those experiencing placement challenges across California. The organization develops placement opportunities to help clients live with dignity and thrive within a network of community support and outreach. Its life skills training helps clients reach goals, build meaningful relationships, and access learning and community outreach opportunities. With guidance, clients make informed decisions based on their needs and wishes while maintaining their independence. The Independent Living Instructor supports consumers with everyday activities, which may include light housekeeping, meal preparation, errands, and personal hygiene routines. Medication assistance may sometimes be required, depending on consumers’ needs. The instructor also takes consumers on outings, documents changes in their overall status, and works with internal and external professionals. This is a part-time role with opportunities in the Placentia, Buena Park, and Yorba Linda areas.

Requirements

Current CPR certification; resources to complete certification can be provided.
Recent TB test; resources to obtain one can be provided.
Reliable transportation to and from work.
Complete federal and state fingerprint background checks.
For roles that require driving: valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and insurance.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is useful but not required; passion for making a difference is welcomed.

Responsibilities

Assist consumers with everyday activities, including light housekeeping, meal preparation, running errands, and creating or providing personal hygiene routines.
Assist with medication administration when required by consumers’ needs.
Take consumers on outings.
Track and document changes in clients’ overall status.
Work with a team of internal and external professionals.
