About The Position

DABS Inc provides comprehensive life skills training to adults with developmental disabilities, especially those experiencing placement challenges across California. The organization develops placement opportunities to help clients live and thrive with dignity within a network of community support and outreach. Its training helps clients pursue their goals, build meaningful relationships, and access learning and community outreach opportunities while making informed decisions consistent with their needs and wishes without restricting their independence. The Independent Living Instructor supports consumers with everyday activities, which may include light housekeeping, meal preparation, errands, personal hygiene routines, medication assistance when needed, and outings. The instructor tracks and documents changes in clients’ overall status and works with internal and external professionals. This is a part-time position serving opportunities in the Placentia, Buena Park, and Yorba Linda areas.

Requirements

Current CPR certification; resources to complete certification may be provided.
Recent TB test; resources to complete testing may be provided.
Reliable transportation to and from work.
For roles requiring driving, a valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and insurance.
Undergo federal and state fingerprint background checks.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is useful but not required; passion for making a difference is welcomed.

Responsibilities

Assist consumers with everyday activities, including light housekeeping, meal preparation, and running errands.
Help create or provide personal hygiene routines.
Assist with medication administration when required by consumer needs.
Take consumers on outings.
Track and document changes in clients’ overall status.
Work with a team of internal and external professionals.
