About The Position

DABS Inc provides comprehensive life skills training to adults with developmental disabilities, especially those experiencing placement challenges across California. The organization develops placement opportunities to help clients live and thrive with dignity within a network of community support and outreach. Its life skills training helps clients reach goals, build meaningful relationships, and access learning and community outreach opportunities, while supporting them in making informed decisions based on their needs and wishes without threatening or restricting their independence. The Independent Living Instructor aids consumers with everyday activities, which may include light housekeeping, meal preparation, running errands, and creating or providing personal hygiene routines. Medication administration may be required depending on consumers’ needs. The instructor takes consumers on outings, tracks and documents changes in clients’ overall status, and works with internal and external professionals.

Requirements

Current CPR certification; resources to complete this can be provided.
Recent TB test; resources to complete this can be provided.
Reliable transportation to and from work.
Undergo a federal and state fingerprint background check.
For roles requiring driving, have a valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and insurance.

Some experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is useful but not required.

Responsibilities

Aid consumers with everyday activities, including light housekeeping, meal preparation, running errands, and helping create or provide personal hygiene routines.
Assist with medication administration when required by consumers’ needs.
Take consumers on outings.
Track and document changes in clients’ overall status.
Work with a team of internal and external professionals.
