About The Position

The Inclusion Helper provides support and assistance to students with severe disabilities at Old Post Elementary School. The role supports students during instruction and helps them access learning and develop independence in the least restrictive environment. This is a full-time, ten-month position.

Requirements

High school diploma or minimum educational standard established through federal legislation.
Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
Ability to meet essential physical requirements, with or without accommodation, by passing a pre-employment exam. Requirements include squatting, kneeling, and lifting and transferring students weighing up to 40 pounds.
Specific skills as dictated by the needs of the students.

Responsibilities

Provide support to students during instruction, including modifications and accommodations.
Facilitate student independence in the least restrictive environment.
Assist students with completing assignments and reinforce activities.
Monitor student behavior and implement behavioral strategies and intervention plans.
Assist with personal care needs, including lifting, transferring, feeding, and toileting.
Prepare instructional materials for students as directed by the teacher.
Chart data on student progress as necessary.
Participate in professional development programs as assigned.
Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
